New Moon Records recording artists from Joshua Tree CA, Shadow Mountain Band began 15 years ago as a hillbilly music jam session in the garden behind Pappy and Harriet’s Place. Crowds began to gather around to hear the mountain-style harmonies and old-time tunes. The management of Pappy and Harriet’s began coming out to listen and soon asked the jammers to come in and play inside for the music crowd. Since then, they have been all over the southwest, playing music festivals, theaters and various honky-tonks. You know the rest.

SMB features re-styled classic songs, upbeat originals, traditional bluegrass, and old-time fiddle tunes and songs. They appeal to all ages due to the scope of their material, their virtuoso musicianship, and their audience-friendly presentation.

Recently, Shadow Mountain Band was honored by Joshua Tree Voice Magazine, in their first annual ‘Joshuas awards’. The band was voted ‘Outstanding Americana/folk Group for 2022
